The laureates

Anahí Rodríguez Martínez is a Mexican feminist activist specializing in menstrual justice and sexual and reproductive rights. She has more than ten years of experience in legislative advocacy, public policy, and social mobilization to promote gender equality and access to human rights in Mexico.

She founded Menstruación Digna México, a pioneering collective created in 2019 to promote dignified menstrual care through legal reforms, public education, and social awareness. Thanks to her leadership and advocacy, the movement has contributed to the abolition of the value-added tax (VAT) on menstrual products in Mexico, as well as to the implementation of policies that guarantee free access to menstrual products in public institutions in several Mexican states.

She currently works as an independent consultant and advocate for gender equality, menstrual justice, and reproductive rights, collaborating with civil society organizations, international actors, and public institutions to strengthen evidence-based, rights-centered policies.

Her work combines research, public communication, and coalition-building among legislators, activists, and international actors. She contributed to Mexico’s first national survey on menstrual care, producing key data to inform policy reforms and public debate.

Anahí is passionate about public speaking, education, and international advocacy. She regularly participates in conferences, media appearances, and political dialogues to promote menstrual justice as a fundamental human right and to ensure that menstruation never stands in the way of access to education, health care, and full social participation.
