The laureates

Fabiana CONDORI QUISPE is an Aymara human and environmental rights advocate with experience implementing various communication and awareness-raising projects focused on defending the rights of indigenous, rural, and peri-urban communities in the Plurinational State of Bolivia. She promotes the revitalization of these peoples’ languages and cultures, their right to communication and information, human development, and environmental protection through radio and audiovisual programs, among other innovative and participatory initiatives. She draws on the power of storytelling to convey information to the communities she supports, raising awareness to foster participation and critical thinking.

In 2011, she founded “Entre Medios – Communication, Radio and Visual Production,” whose goal is to develop communication and education projects focused on promoting nonviolence, environmental protection, food sovereignty, and pluralism, for the benefit of Bolivia’s indigenous and peasant communities. In this capacity, in 2012, she wrote the scripts for the new radio program “Una Mina de Derechos,” which inspires Indigenous peoples to assert their rights in the face of the mining industry’s extractive megaprojects in Bolivia. She has also led projects involving the research, production, and broadcast of educational radio news in Aymara and Spanish, some of which have been aired in partnership with more than 20 local radio stations in the Altiplano, as well as outside Bolivia.
