Description

Medical doctor and human rights activist, Anarkali Honaryar began her career as a member of the Afghanistan Independent Commission on Human Rights in 2004.

She was then a senator, representing the Hindu and Sikh minorities in the Afghan Parliament for 10 years. As a senator, she is the head of the Committee on Cultural Affairs and a member of the Committee on International Relations. She was also chosen as a member of the Peace Council, representing the democratic government of Afghanistan. During her career, she has won numerous awards, including the UNESCO prize for the promotion of tolerance and non-violence.
