Description

A medical doctor and human rights activist, Anarkali Honaryar began her career as a member of the Independent Human Rights Commission in Afghanistan in 2004.

She was then a senator, representing Hindu and Sikh minorities in the Afghan Parliament for 10 years. As a senator, she is the head of the Cultural Affairs Committee and a member of the International Relations Committee. She was also chosen as a member of the Peace Council, representing the democratic government of Afghanistan. During her career, she has received numerous awards, including the UNESCO Prize for the Promotion of Tolerance and Non-Violence.
