Description

Shaheen H. ElSharif is a Sudanese teacher and educator, working to empower young people. This human rights defender is particularly committed to promoting access to democracy. He is dedicated to community development in conflict zones, notably in civic organizations (National Association for Religious Freedom, Future Makers Sudan, Khartoum Resistance Committees). During the 2018 revolution in Sudan, Shaheen was coordinator within the pro-democracy youth movement. He was then elected as municipal coordinator of Khartoum's central district before being imprisoned after the military coup in 2021. As co-founder and director of the NGO Youth In Action - Sudan, he implements international advocacy for youth-led democratic movements, facilitates the localization of essential skills within communities and encourages youth participation in decision-making processes.
