The laureates

Mehedi AL AMIN is a Bangladeshi investigative journalist specializing in environmental health, the impacts of climate change, wildlife and biodiversity, as well as pollution and industrial emissions.

Throughout his career, he has worked for his country’s leading English-language newspapers, including The Dhaka Tribune and The Business Standard, as well as the Bengali-language newspaper The Bonik Barta.

He currently serves as editor-in-chief of “The Poribesh News,” a forthcoming online news portal dedicated to climate issues. He is a member of the media program for “Farming Future Bangladesh,” in collaboration with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Cornell University in the United States. He is also a member of the Global Alliance for Incineration Alternatives, an organization that brings together and supports environmental justice efforts worldwide, advocating for the development of alternatives to waste-related pollution.

As a journalist, he covered COP27 of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Egypt in 2022, as well as COP28 in the United Arab Emirates in 2023. Finally, he participated in the second session of negotiations for the Global Treaty on Plastic Pollution (INC-2) in Paris in late May 2023.
