MARDINI Zuhaier

Description

Zuhaier Mardini is a Syrian lawyer specializing in public international law. A law student at the University of Damascus in 2015, he was arrested by the Syrian regime because of his commitment to an intellectual revolution. This arrest encourages him to commit himself to human rights and freedom of expression. As a lawyer, he advises relatives of victims of arbitrary detention and provides legal support to women whose relatives have disappeared. Due to the threats he is exposed to, he went into exile in Turkey in 2019, where he continues his work of legal support for Syrian refugees. In order to support the social movement towards democracy, it bears witness to the Syrian legal and political situation, through the publication of articles on the violence of the Syrian regime and fundamentalist groups and participation in conferences in France. In addition, he is committed to helping the Syrian people in the post-conflict period and transitional justice.
